Learning Innovations Designers

Exploring This Job

You don’t have to be an adult to begin exploring learning innovations design. Think about a class, museum tour, or other educational experience that you’ve participated in lately. Were the presentation format, themes, and other content interesting and easy-to-understand, or could they use some improvement? If the latter, reimagine the educational experience in a way that would be more effective to someone of your age or your preferred learning method. What type of technology would you use to enhance the presentation? Try to think of some “outside-of-the-box” way to make the presentation more interesting, comprehensive, and/or fulfilling. By doing this, you’ll get a basic introduction to the work of designers.

Talk to LIDs about educational requirements, typical job duties, the pros and cons of the job, and other topics. Ask your school counselor to help arrange an information interview. Perhaps you could even job-shadow a learning innovations designer on-the-job.
