Back-End Developers

History

In the early days of software development, developers used a variety of programming languages to create the front- and back-end components of software. But the release of programming languages such as PHP (which was first made available to the public in 1995) and ASP (1996) that could be used to create the back-end components of software prompted a move toward occupational specialization for developers. The availability of these programming languages—along with the creation of other developer-friendly languages such as Ruby and Python—fueled the growth of the specialized field of back-end software development.
