Biofuels Production Managers

Outlook

Biofuels production managers will continue to have employment opportunities due to government mandates for renewable energy usage. For instance, the Renewable Fuel Standard program, enacted in the United States in 2007, requires energy companies to use biofuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on foreign oil imports.

Employment of industrial production managers will grow about as fast as the average for all careers through 2032, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. New, leaner production models have been decreasing the need for workers and managers. There has been a trend in "reshoring," however, that is creating some employment growth. Reshoring means that companies that had previously outsourced production services and personnel to foreign countries are returning to the United States, setting up facilities in lower cost regions. This is known as "domestic sourcing."

Biofuels production managers with a bachelor's degree, several years of prior work experience, and certification will have the best job prospects. Flexibility to relocate to another region where more jobs are available is also an advantage.
