Prospective chief customer officers should take writing, English, speech, marketing, foreign language, social studies, and business classes in high school.

Postsecondary Education

There are no degrees yet that are geared toward aspiring chief customer officers, but many in the field have degrees in business administration, communications, public relations, marketing and related fields. Some employers prefer or require a master's degree in business administration.

Other Education or Training

Trade associations often offer seminars, classes, and conferences, which can provide valuable learning opportunities. Many companies also have training and executive development programs.
