Medical Screeners

History

There has always been a need to gather information from patients when they enter a medical facility. In a small practice setting, the doctor or a nurse would collect this information, but as the health care industry grew increasingly complex and medical facilities grew larger, a need developed for trained professionals to gather important information about patients for use by doctors and other medical professionals. As a result, the career of medical screener was created. Their work allows physicians to spend their time treating patients, rather than inputting information into a database.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in China in late 2019, prompted increased demand for medical screeners to ensure that patients entering medical facilities did not exhibit obvious signs of the highly infectious coronavirus.
