Pathologists

Unions and Associations

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals. Created in 1922, ASCP offers certification and advocacy on behalf of patients, pathologists, and laboratory professionals. It also offers free membership for students. The association composed exclusively of pathologists certified by the American Board of Pathology is the the College of American Pathologists. Although the association has "college" in the name, it is actually a medical society serving more than 100,000 physician and laboratory community members throughout the world. The college is an advocate for high-quality and cost-effective medical care. Other associations are available for pathologists to join, many of them grouped based on geographic location or specialty.
