Build Reliability Engineers

New build reliability engineers should have one to two years of professional or internship experience (or via a student project team) in a design engineering, quality, or manufacturing role.

Important soft and personal traits for build reliability engineers include strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; curiosity and the ability to think “outside-the-box,” and the ability to work both as a member of a team and individually, when necessary. Engineers also need excellent writing and oral communication skills.

Build reliability engineers must have knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, root cause analysis and corrective action, advanced product quality planning, metrology, process failure mode and effects analysis, and control plans.
