Build Reliability Engineers

There are many ways to learn more about careers in build reliability engineering and in general engineering. For example, you should participate in information interviews with build reliability engineers. In such an interview—which can be conducted in-person, on the phone, or through video-conferencing technology—you will get the opportunity to ask engineers about their job duties, work environment, likes and dislikes about their careers, educational training, and other topics that will help you to learn more about the field. Ask your school counselor or a teacher to help you set up information interviews. Perhaps you could even job-shadow a build reliability engineer to learn even more about the field.

Consider touring a NASA or commercial aerospace research, manufacturing, or launch facility. Some aerospace companies offer tours. Contact these companies for more information.

Visit aerospace museums such as the National Air and Space Museum (https://airandspace.si.edu) at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. to see spacecraft and learn about space exploration.

Join student STEM organizations such as SkillsUSA (https://www.skillsusa.org), Technology Student Association (https://tsaweb.org), and Skills Compétences Canada (https://www.skillscompetencescanada.com) to learn more about careers, participate in competitions, build your leadership skills, and access other resources.
