Unions and Associations
Some community health nurses are represented by unions such as the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. Nurses can join the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators, American Public Health Association, Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, and Visiting Nurse Associations of America. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing represents 825 member schools of nursing; these schools offer a mix of baccalaureate, graduate, and post-graduate programs. The American Nurses Credentialing Center provides certification.
