Certification or Licensing

The Identity Management Institute (IMI) offers the certified identity and access manager credential. To become certified, applicants must complete study in the following areas and pass an examination: threat management; project management; product selection and implementation; software security; cloud security; IAM architecture, protocols, and standards; Internet of Things and API security; artificial intelligence and machine learning; compliance assurance; and digital identity guidelines. In addition, the IMI offers nearly 10 additional certification credentials in identity governance, identity risk management, access management, compliance, data protection, and other fields. Certification is also offered by IAPP (certified information systems auditor, certified information privacy manager), ISC2 (certified information systems security professional), ISACA (certified in risk and information systems control, certified information security manager, certified information systems auditor), and IAM technology vendors.

No licensing is required for digital identity managers.
