Franchise Owners

Earnings

The earnings for franchisees vary greatly, depending on such factors as the type of franchise they own, the amount of money a franchisee was able to initially invest without taking a loan, the franchise's location, and the number of franchise units the franchisee owns. Franchise owners can earn anything from $10,000 to $50,000 to $500,000. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that general and operations managers, a category that can include franchise owners, earned anywhere from $46,340 to more than $232,110 in May 2023, with a median salary of $101,280.

Since franchisees run their own businesses, they generally do not have paid sick days or holidays. In addition, they are typically responsible for providing their own insurance and retirement plans.
