Health Club Owners and Managers

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that employment for fitness trainers and instructors will grow by 14 percent through 2033, or much faster than the average for all careers. Employment for health club owners and managers should also be good, although fewer positions are available for managers and owners than there are for trainers and instructors. A record 72.9 million people were members of U.S. fitness facilities in 2023, according to the Health & Fitness Association's 2024 U.S. Health & Fitness Consumer Report. This is an increase from 50.2 million memberships in 2010. Because a growing number of people realize the importance of daily exercise for their general health and well-being, health clubs should continue to enjoy growth and popularity in the coming years. As the number of health clubs increases, so too will the demand for qualified individuals able to run them.
