Health Club Owners and Managers

Work Environment

Health club owners and managers work in clean, comfortable surroundings. However, their jobs can be stressful and often require the ability to juggle many tasks at once. Managers and owners must constantly deal with the challenge of balancing the needs of staff members with the needs of the club's members—needs that may, at times, be at odds with each other.

Depending on the size of the club, owners and managers may need to work more than a standard eight-hour day. For managers, overtime is generally compensated by additional pay or time off. For owners, extra hours go unpaid; overtime simply comes with the territory of running a business.
