Biofuels/Biodiesel Technology and Product Development Managers

Outlook

Government funding for biofuels or biodiesel technology and product research and development varies by administration, but interest continues to grow in developing renewable sources that are viable for energy and fuel. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that employment for engineering managers will increase by 4 percent (about as fast as the average for all careers) from 2022 to 2032. However, the employment outlook varies by job sector. For example, employment is projected to increase (faster than the average) within the engineering services sector (5.2 percent) and in the scientific research and development services sector (6.4 percent) during this same time span.

As fossil fuel supplies become depleted, there will be increased need for new biofuels or biodiesel products and processes derived from organic materials. Technology and product development managers will be needed to help develop, research, and analyze the findings of experiments for these new products.
