Biomass Plant Technicians

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network predicts that employment for biomass plant technicians will decline by 2 percent through 2032 as a result of increasing automation of plant operations and competition from other clean energy producers. Nevertheless, interest in researching and developing renewable energy sources such as biomass will continue. Renewable portfolio standards, mandating that local utilities generate some of their overall energy from renewable sources, have benefited the industry, along with a growing focus on green technology. Biomass plant technicians who have a bachelor's degree and several years of work experience in a biomass power plant will have the best employment opportunities.
