Community health workers earned median annual salaries of $48,200 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The lowest 10 percent made $35,560 or less, while the top 10 percent earned $75,980 or more. Fifty percent of community health workers earned between $40,490 and $60,740. Workers in the following states had the highest mean annual earnings: New Mexico, $63,900; Rhode Island, $63,660; Nevada, $63,320; Connecticut, $60,990; and Alaska, $59,230.

Depending on their employers, most full-time community health workers receive benefits such as vacation and sick time as well as holidays and medical and dental insurance.
