Community Health Workers

Unions and Associations

Community health workers do not typically belong to unions, but they can join professional associations at the local, state, and national levels that provide networking opportunities, continuing education in-person classes and webinars, conferences, publications, career information, and other resources. Members of the National Association of Community Health Workers receive a monthly newsletter, receive access to members-only webinars, and can participate in professional development opportunities. The Association for Community Health Improvement, an affiliate of the American Hospital Association, offers membership, publications, and continuing education opportunities. Other useful organizations include the American Public Health Association, National Association of Community Health Centers, and the Society for Public Health Education.
