Manufacturing Engineering Technologists

Unions and Associations

Some technologists are represented by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers; IUE-CWA; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; SPEEA; and other unions.

Many professional associations provide membership, continuing education, networking opportunities, and other resources for engineering professionals and students. These associations include the American Society for Engineering Education, Association for Manufacturing Technology, National Society of Professional Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Women in Manufacturing. ABET accredits engineering education programs. The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies provide certification for engineering technologists.

Noteworthy advanced manufacturing associations include the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute and the National Council for Advanced Manufacturing. The Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education offers information on training programs.

The Technology Student Association is a youth membership organization that provides career exploration programs and competitions.
