To explore this job, talk to a local pharmacist about his or her work. Suggested interview questions include: What made you want to enter this career? What do you like most and least about your job? What was your educational training like? What are some key skills for success? What advice would you give to young people about preparing for the field and being successful on the job? How will advances in technology change the field? What are some good ways to explore the field while one is in high school? Perhaps you could even job-shadow a pharmacist to learn even more about the field.

Volunteer at a hospital or clinic in your area to get hands-on experience working in a medical environment. You can also try to get a paid part-time or summer job at a pharmacy or hospital.

Participate in summer exploration programs in chemistry, pharmaceutical science, and related fields at colleges and universities to learn more about the field.
