Pharmacologists

Unions and Associations

Pharmacologists are not represented by unions. The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics is the major organization for pharmacologists. The American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics is the largest scientific and professional organization serving the discipline of clinical pharmacology. The American Board of Clinical Pharmacology provides certification to pharmacologists. Pharmacologists can join the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. It publishes the AAPS Newsmagazine, which is a respected source for industry insight and association news for pharmaceutical scientists on topics including drug delivery systems, the use of technology, regulatory agencies’ activities, and industry modernization. The Biotechnology Innovation Organization and the Biotechnology Institute offer information on the biotech industry, a major employer of pharmacologists. Pharmacologists also have the option to join associations that are specific to certain countries or specialties.
