School nurses' salaries are determined by several factors—the financial status of the school district, the nurse's experience, and the scope of duties.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, registered nurses had median annual earnings of $73,300 in May 2019. Salaries ranged from less than $52,080 to more than $111,220. Licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses made a median salary of $47,480 in May 2019. The lowest paid 10 percent made less than $34,560, and the highest paid 10 percent made more than $63,360. School nurses' salaries may differ from these figures, however. Salary.com reported a median annual salary of $50,913 for school nurses in August 2020. Salaries ranged from less than $31,375 to $76,445 or more.
