School Nurses

School nurses' salaries are determined by several factors—the financial status of the school district and the nurse's experience and their scope of duties.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, registered nurses had median annual earnings of $93,600 in May 2024. Salaries ranged from less than $66,030 to more than $135,320. Licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses made a median salary of $62,340 in May 2024. The lowest paid 10 percent made less than $47,960, and the highest paid 10 percent earned more than $80,510.

School nurses' salaries may differ from these figures, however. ZipRecruiter.com reported a median annual salary of $67,035 for public school nurses in April 2025. Salaries ranged from less than $21,500 to $101,000 or more.
