Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners

Work Environment

Clinical pharmacist practitioners work in a variety of health care settings—from hospitals and nursing homes, to the offices of physicians or rural health clinics. Many work a typical 9:00-to-5:00, Monday through Friday shift, while others work at night and on weekends because there is always a need for medication management and related care for patients. Some CPPs assist underserved populations in rural areas and may need to travel long distances during their workdays. Practitioners work with patients who have a variety of physical and mental health challenges, so they must be comfortable interacting with people who are severely ill or those who are experiencing mental health challenges.
