Information Assurance Analysts

Work Environment

Some information security analysts (a related career) work more than 40 hours a week. Information assurance analysts work in typical office settings, and have the use of the latest technology and office equipment. Those who work as consultants may need to travel to the offices of their clients.

This career can be stressful at times—especially if one works for organizations such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Central Intelligence Agency, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation that have vast amount of highly-classified information to protect. On the other hand, many people love this career because no day is the same (i.e., there are always new challenges and types of cyberattacks), and it is rewarding and gratifying to design systems and protocols that protect sensitive data from hackers and state-level intelligence operatives.
