Economists

Unions and Associations

Economists are not represented by unions, but they can obtain support (e.g., membership, publications, continuing education) from many professional associations. For example, the American Economic Association offers membership for college students and professionals; hosts an annual conference; provides continuing education opportunities; publishes the American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Perspectives, and other publications; and hosts EconSpark: the AEA Economics Discussion Forum (which is available on its Web site). Other useful organizations include the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association, Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, National Association for Business Economics, and the Society of Government Economists. The Council for Economic Education focuses on the economic and financial education of K–12 students.
