Manufacturing Engineers

Unions and Associations

Some engineers are represented by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers; IUE-CWA; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; SPEEA; and other unions.

Many professional associations provide education, certification, publications and news, and networking opportunities. These organizations include the American Society for Engineering Education, National Society of Professional Engineers, SME, Society of Women Engineers, and Women in Manufacturing. ABET accredits engineering education programs. The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying provides licensure examinations for engineers.

Noteworthy advanced manufacturing associations include the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute and the National Council for Advanced Manufacturing. State-level advanced manufacturing associations (such as the Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Association) also provide services to workers in the field. The Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education offers information on training programs.
