Join student business organizations—such as Junior Achievement (https://jausa.ja.org), DECA (www.deca.org), Future Business Leaders of America (https://www.fbla.org), and Business Professionals of America (http://bpa.org) to learn more about the business world and participate in activities that develop your leadership, managerial, and financial management skills. Some organizations—such as DECA and Future Business Leaders of America—offer business and finance competitions.

Participate in information interviews and job-shadowing experiences with contract professionals to learn more about the field. Ask your school counselor and business teacher for help setting up these experiences. Perhaps you could also talk to someone in your school’s business office about contract preparation and administration. You should also contact business organizations for potential interview/job shadowing leads.
