Contract Administrators

History

There has always been a need for skilled workers to draft and oversee the implementation of contracts. Well-written contracts protect businesses, organizations, and individuals from unnecessary risks, financial loss, and litigation. The earliest known written contracts were drafted in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) approximately 4,000 years ago. They were often inscribed on clay tablets and written in hieroglyphics or cuneiform. As business has grown more complex and the number of contracts has increased in the past few decades, demand has developed for specialized professionals—including contract administrators to oversee contracts. The National Contract Management Association represents the professional interests of more than 100,000 contract management professionals globally.
