App Services Workers

There are few unions available to gig workers, although grassroots unionization efforts are ongoing. A small number of ASWs belong to organizations that are affiliated with unions. For example, the Independent Drivers Guild is an affiliate union to the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. Local organizations such as Rideshare Drivers United-Los Angeles seek to unite rideshare drivers to lobby for fair treatment and higher pay. There may be similar groups for ride share drivers and other app services workers in your area. A construction trades worker who chooses to work as an app services professional might belong to a non-union trade organization. Such an organization provides continuing education and certification programs.
