In general, computer trainers' salaries increase with the level of their education and the amount of their experience. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that training and development specialists earned median salaries of $64,340 in May 2023. The lowest paid 10 percent averaged $36,050, and the highest paid 10 percent earned $116,140 or more annually. Fifty percent of training and development specialists earned between $47,510 and $87,890. In addition to education and experience, other factors influencing earnings are the size of the employer and, if the trainer is working independently, the number of clients he or she has during the year.

Technical trainers earned median salaries of $64,955 in August 2024, according to Salary.com. Salaries ranged from less than $58,980 to $71,526 or more.

Most computer trainers who are employed by corporations receive medical and dental insurance, paid vacations, sick days, and retirement plans. Some companies also offer reimbursement for continuing education courses and training. Self-employed trainers must provide their own benefits.
