Computer Trainers

Outlook

Employment of training and development specialists is projected to grow 12 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all careers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. There will be a great need for computer trainers in the coming years as computer technology and social media continue to develop. An increasing number of employers are using a variety of external training providers. As this outsourcing grows, an increase in the number of training providers is likely. Such independent providers as community and technical colleges, universities, for-profit learning and development centers, and private industry associations will all be discovering new business opportunities in outsourcing, according to the Association for Talent Development (ATD). The short life cycles of technology products may heighten demand for information-technology trainers, the ATD notes. The ATD also points out that even during recessions and economic slowdowns, knowledge workers such as computer trainers help address skills gaps that arise when baby boomers retire and newly hired college graduates need to get up to speed.
