Cybersecurity Architects

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) does not provide an employment outlook for cybersecurity architects, but it does report that job opportunities for the related career of information security analyst are expected to grow by 33 percent through 2033. This is much faster than the average for all occupations. In addition, employment for another related career—computer and information systems manager—is projected to increase by 17 percent during this same time span. This is also much faster than the average for all careers. The DOL says that “employment growth is projected to result from the need to bolster cybersecurity in computer and information systems that businesses use.”

The ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study, 2023 includes information about the Cybersecurity Workforce Gap, which is the number of additional security professionals that employers need to ensure that their critical assets are protected. The study found that there was still a shortage of 4 million cybersecurity professionals worldwide. This dearth of workers suggests that there will continue to be strong demand for skilled cybersecurity architects and other cybersecurity professionals who are certified and who stay up to date with industry developments, evolving technologies, and new cyberthreats.
