Cybersecurity Architects

Work Environment

Cybersecurity architects spend their workweeks (which typically run from Monday through Friday) conducting research regarding emerging cybersecurity issues and new technology to address these issues; meeting with colleagues, executives, and clients regarding future and ongoing cybersecurity architecture projects; building and testing systems; and performing a variety of other duties. During a cyberattack, they work extra hours (i.e., nights and weekends) to address the issue and upgrade system architecture. An architect who works for a large corporation that has properties throughout the country or world may need to travel to other offices or facilities to evaluate the existing IT infrastructure and meet security professionals at these locations.
