Embedded Systems Engineers

Work Environment

Embedded systems engineers can expect a typical 40-hour workweek, although they may be asked to work overtime at night and on weekends to meet project deadlines. Work settings include research laboratories, offices, cleanrooms (in which they are required to wear clean, or bunny, suits), and manufacturing plants. Some travel is necessary to visit customer locations. About 80 percent of embedded systems engineers surveyed by PayScale.com in 2019 reported that they were satisfied with their careers.
