Market Research Analysts

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) predicts that employment for marketing research analysts will grow by 20 percent, much faster than the average for all careers, through 2028. Increasing competition among producers of consumer goods and services and industrial products, combined with a growing awareness of the value of marketing research data, will contribute to opportunities in the field. The ongoing focus on collecting and analyzing "big data" (for example, social media comments and online product reviews) will also create demand for market research analysts. The increasing globalization of business will also create openings for analysts to study foreign markets and competition. Opportunities will be best for those with graduate degrees who seek employment in marketing research firms, consulting firms, companies that design computer systems and software, financial services organizations, health care institutions, advertising firms, manufacturing firms that produce consumer goods, and insurance companies.
