Driverless Car Engineers

Outlook

The outlook for the global automated vehicle industry is brightening, and therefore good opportunities are predicted for driverless car engineers. The coronavirus pandemic caused slower growth than expected in this industry in 2020, with a 3 percent decline over the previous year due to the economic slowdown, according to the research group Statista. The containment of the pandemic and economic rebound in 2021, however, will contribute to growth in the automated vehicle industry, which will reach more than $37 billion by 2023, a significant jump over $23.3 billion in 2020. The Department of Labor predicts that software developers will have much faster than average employment growth, 22 percent, through 2029
