Earnings for receptionists vary widely with the education and experience of the worker and type, size, and geographic location of the business. The median annual salary for receptionists was $30,050 in May 2019, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), with salaries ranging from $21,130 to $43,380 or higher. The DOL reports that receptionists earned the following mean salaries by employer: offices of dentists, $32,070; offices of physicians, $36,970; personal care services, $26,600; and offices of other health practitioners, $30,450.

Receptionists are usually eligible for paid holidays and vacations, sick leave, medical and life insurance coverage, and a retirement plan of some kind.
