Median annual earnings of information security analysts were $99,730 in May 2019, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Ten percent of analysts earned less than $57,810, while the top 10 percent earned $158,860 or more. The DOL reports the following mean earnings for information security analysts in May 2018 by industry sector:

  • securities and commodity contracts intermediation and brokerage: $121,230
  • management, scientific, and technical consulting services: $109,030
  • credit intermediation and related activities: $108,510
  • computer systems design and related services: $107,500
  • data processing, hosting, and related services: $102,880
  • management of companies and enterprises: $100,880

North American–based information security professionals who were members of (ISC)² who were certified earned average annual salaries of $90,000, according to the 2019 (ISC)² Global Information Security Workforce Study. Those who were not certified earned $76,500. 

According to Robert Half Technology’s 2020 Salary Guide, data security analysts earned salaries that ranged from $108,250 to $183,500.
