Information Security Analysts

Outlook

Employment for information security analysts will grow much faster than average through 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The growing cost of cybercrime is forcing many U.S. companies and other organizations to increase their cybersecurity budgets. However, the 2024 (ISC)² Cybersecurity Workforce Study noted that some organizations were scaling back their workforces despite the increased number of threats. While North America was the largest employer of cybersecurity workers worldwide, at 1.45 million, (ISC)² revealed that employment in the region declined 2.7 percent from 2023 to 2024.

The digitalization of health care records and high-profile security breaches at retailers such as Target are prompting the health care industry and businesses of all types to hire more information security analysts to identify and fix security issues.

Analysts with related work experience will have the best job prospects. For example, an applicant with experience in database management will have a better chance of landing a job in database security than an individual without that experience.
