Project management specialists and business operations specialists received mean annual earnings of $84,290 in 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Earnings ranged from $42,180 to $135,220 or more.

Project managers who worked for software and applications development firms earned salaries that ranged from $96,000 to $161,500, according to the Technology Salary Guide 2021 from Robert Half Technology. Fifty percent earned between $114,750 and $137,750.

Salaried project managers typically receive benefits such as health insurance, paid vacation and sick days, and access to a retirement savings account. In 2020, 52 percent of U.S. employers provided paid life insurance to their project management professionals, 46 percent offered the use of a cell phone, and 8 percent provided a company car, according to the Project Management Institute.
