Computer Systems Programmer/Analysts

Outlook

Employment for computer systems programmer/analysts will grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2018 through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Demand is increasing due mainly to the growing number of businesses that rely extensively on computers. When businesses automate, their daily operations depend on the capacity of their computer systems to perform at desired levels. The continuous development of new technologies means that businesses must also update their old systems, as well as add new systems, to remain competitive in the marketplace. Additionally, the need for businesses to network their information adds to the demand for qualified programmer analysts. Businesses will rely increasingly on systems programmer/analysts to make the right purchasing decisions and to keep systems running smoothly.
