Chief Information Security Officers

Advancement opportunities vary by employer. At some employers, the position of CISO is on the same level as that of chief information officer, chief risk officer, chief operating officer, or general counsel. At other employers, the chief information security officer reports to one of these aforementioned professionals. The majority of CISOs report to their company’s chief executive officer or its board of directors. Some CISOs launch their own consulting firms, while others seek to pass on their knowledge to college students by becoming teachers.
