Patience, tact, and teaching ability are important when educating patients about setting up and using RPM technology and teaching them if they are not using it correctly. Remote patient monitoring specialists must also be proficient in the use of telehealth platforms, remote monitoring devices, electronic health record systems, and data analytics software, as well as have an understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and other privacy regulations. Advanced AI is increasingly incorporated into RPM systems, so specialists should also be familiar with its uses in this field.
