Health Informaticists

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor predicts a “bright outlook” for health informatics specialists in the next decade. “The increased adoption of electronic health records is expected to enhance market growth [because of] increased penetration in hospitals and alternative care institutions,” according to an analysis of the sector by the Journal of Health & Medical Informatics. The journal goes on to say that “the need for an integrated system to diagnose, interpret and analyze, treat, and record information is predicted to increase preference for healthcare informatics.” Health informaticists with advanced education, certification, experience, and knowledge of artificial intelligence and wearable technology will have the best job prospects.
