Color Scientists

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor does not provide an employment outlook for color scientists. But it does report that employment of chemists and materials scientists is projected to increase 5 percent from 2024 to 2034. This is faster than the average (3 percent) for all occupations.

Demand for color scientists is “currently high, driven by accelerated innovation in display and imaging technologies,” according to Jobicy, an online platform that connects people who seek remote careers. Jobicy also reports that “increasing consumer expectations for vivid and accurate colors across digital and physical products will sustain demand for skilled color scientists. Furthermore, growth in sectors like textiles, automotive coatings, and e-commerce fuels continual opportunities.”
