Color Scientists

Work Environment

Color scientists work in offices, design studios, software companies, laboratories, industrial research centers, and manufacturing plants. Most work a typical 9:00-to-5:00, Monday-Friday workweek, although those who are employed in manufacturing may need to work on weekends to monitor production. Some color scientists may need to be available off hours to collaborate with colleagues and external partners that are in other countries. Color scientists who work in laboratories and in manufacturing plants may wear protective clothing due to potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. At some employers, color scientists travel to the offices, laboratories, or manufacturing plants of clients.
