Legal Operations Specialists

History

There has been a need for legal operations services (e.g., billing, contract management, project management) ever since the first in-house corporate legal department was created. These tasks were often handled by attorneys, experienced paralegals, or office managers. It was not until the early 2010s that some companies—especially those in the financial industry—began to create distinct legal operations roles due to the growing complexity of legal tasks and a need to reduce costs and improve efficiency. The increasing integration of technology, data analytics, and legal operations software has fueled steady demand for legal operations specialists.
