Digital Workplace Experience Engineers

The ideal digital workplace experience engineer has at least three years of experience in lower-level digital workplace experience positions (such as analyst or systems engineer). It’s possible that an aspiring DWEE could be hired by a smaller company straight out of college if he or she has extensive experience in the field (e.g., internships, cooperative education and volunteer experiences, part-time job, extensive coursework).

Digital workplace experience engineers should have an understanding of Agile methodology (an iterative approach to project management), knowledge of the information technology infrastructure library (a framework for effectively managing IT services through the entire service lifecycle), and an understanding of quality methodologies such as Lean and Lean Six Sigma.

Important personal traits for DWEEs include strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills; top-notch organizational abilities, with the ability to effectively address projects, requests, and other competing priorities; a detail-oriented personality; the ability to quickly learn, implement, and utilize new technologies; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (including being a good listener); patience; determination; self-motivation; and the ability to work as a member of a team.
