Chief Robotics Officer

Outlook

In 2022, there were 553,052 industrial robot installations in factories around the world, according to the World Robotics 2023 Report from the International Federation of Robotics. The number of industrial robot installations worldwide is expected to increase to 718,000 in 2026. The integration of robotics into manufacturing plants and other settings will accelerate in the next decade, and Robotics Business Review predicts that 60 percent of the top global companies in manufacturing, logistics, energy, healthcare, and agriculture will employ a CRO as part of their management structure by 2025.

Robotic systems are increasingly utilized in non-manufacturing sectors such as agriculture, energy, law enforcement, transportation. Growth will be strong in these fields. For example, the data analytics firm Markets and Markets reports that the agriculture robotics market will increase in value from $13.5 billion in 2023 to $40.1 billion by 2028.

Chief robotics officers with considerable experience and knowledge of artificial intelligence (including generative AI, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing) and other emerging technologies will have the best job prospects during the next decade.
