Information Technology Infrastructure Engineers

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) does not offer an employment outlook for infrastructure engineers, but it does report that job opportunities in computer and information technology will increase much faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. The DOL says that nearly 357,000 job openings will occur in the field each year during this timeframe. Demand will increase due to a greater emphasis on cloud computing, information security, and the collection and storage of big data—areas that fall under the management of infrastructure engineers.
