Unions and Associations

Some engineers may be represented by the American Federation of Government Employees, International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, the SPEEA, and other unions. In addition, many organizations provide useful resources (membership, continuing education, networking opportunities, etc.) including the American Association of Engineering Societies, American Society for Engineering Education, National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers. ABET accredits engineering education programs. The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying provides licensure examinations for engineers.
